Tokyo – In the TKP (Expert Building), Shimbashi, Tokyo, Japan, on January 21, 2020, the founder of WR2SL met with Professor Yoshio Yamaguchi from Niigata University, at the Principal Investigator (PI) Meeting, Fiscal Year 2019 organized by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), a Japanese space agency.

In this short meeting, the founders of WR2SL and Prof. Yamaguchi discussed the Yamaguchi Decomposition method that Professor Yamaguchi had developed. Besides that, plans for future collaboration between Indonesia and Japan were also addressed related to Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology applications, especially Polarimetric SAR.

A student who studies Synthetic Aperture Radar, wherever they are, must be familiar with the Yamaguchi Decomposition method developed by Prof. Yoshio Yamaguchi. Based on the Yamaguchi Decomposition, the scattering of fully polarimetric SAR data can be separated into many components according to the characteristics of the object. Thus, SAR data analysis becomes easier to do.
